04/05/2008 Maryland General Assembly Completes Repeal of Tech Tax | Governor O’Malley Expected to Sign Legislation
Rockville, MD. The Maryland House of Delegates voted today 93-44 to repeal last year’s amendment of the Maryland Sales and Use Tax Law subjecting information technology services, such as software support and maintenance, integration services, custom software product development, and other “computer services” to Maryland’s recently increased 6% sales tax. The vote of the House of Delegates follows the vote on Friday, April 4, 2008 of the Maryland Senate repealing the tax. The legislation now moves to the Governor’s Mansion where Governor Martin O’Malley is expected to sign the bill into law and foreclose any application of Maryland’s sales tax to computer services.
